How to Make a Custom Resolution in NVIDIA Control Panel

Resolution Nvdia - Sometimes you just need a custom resolution for your desktop or games. For example, maybe you play CSGO or DOTA and you want a higher refresh rate to make everything look smoother. One trick people often do is lowering the monitor resolution so they can push a slightly higher refresh rate. It will not magically double your FPS, but it definitely helps.

That’s just one example of what you can do with custom resolution. Basically, you can experiment with different resolutions using NVIDIA Control Panel, which is already installed by default if you’re using an NVIDIA GPU.

And don’t worry, this method won’t damage your monitor. Everything is handled by software, not hardware. So feel free to tweak, experiment, and play around with different resolutions safely.

How to Set Custom Resolution in NVIDIA Control Panel

  1. Right-click on your desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. Go to Display > Change Resolution
  3. On the right panel, select the monitor you want to customize (if you have multiple monitors)
  4. Scroll down to Choose the resolution and click Customize

     6. A new window will pop up → click Create Custom Resolution

     7. Now you can start creating your own custom resolution

Some monitors can handle 1080p at around 67Hz instead of 60Hz

That’s it! A simple guide to making custom resolutions using NVIDIA Control Panel.
